Hey, guys,

Could you help us out? I just went and asked about this with Umesh, one of the programmers, and he showed me the numbers at 1024x768, and they're just fine on our screens.

Can you please take a screenshot so that we can see what problems you're seeing? (Save it at low-res and small size, convert to JPEG, etc., so as to not burden the forums.)

Thanks.

how much better of resolution you want me to get lol.
I play at both 1920x1080 (TV) and 1680x1050 (desktop monitor) and the numbers are nowhere near that large. They're only slightly larger than the old numbers, only more distinct.

hi gaile, this is my screenshot of the huge numbers. notice that i run windowmode resolution and the smallest interface. while hitting with my wand, the numbers first pop up and then gradually fade away. at some point when they appear, they are slightly bigger than the one in this screenshot. it's really really annoying when u deal more damage, specially aoe damage and your whole screen fills up with these ridiculously oversized numbers. as a monk it's AWFUL when i get hit multiple times and see about 100 of those huge things flying all around me. please make the numbers small as they were or give us the option to size them.

What was wrong with the old numbers? Please, make it as an option so people can use what they prefer.

Well, here you go. I'm uploading them to imageshack, and linking to them instead.

On 1280x1024 resolution:

http://img192.imageshack.us/my.php?i...umbers1qa5.jpg

Damage dealt number look alittle large? This doesn't bother me in the least, though. Of course, it also adds absolutly nothing to the game by making it bigger than it was.

http://img192.imageshack.us/my.php?i...umbers2eg7.jpg

Healing numbers are large and somewhat distracting. I wouldn't care so much if I didn't already know what I was healing for, and if such numbers were actualy important. As-is, you can just look at the players health bar to judge healing. It's also very unimportant to look at the numbers to see if they have Deep Wound on them, because you should notice it being infliced if you're paying attention, they will most likely call it over Vent, or the game interphase if it stays on there, and you can tell just by looking at their health bar when you heal them(if you somehow missed it and they didn't call it...).

http://img192.imageshack.us/my.php?i...umbers3ce7.jpg

Kindof large, if you ask me. It's somewhat distracting, and again I don't think it's needed in the least, due to the fact the previous display was absolutly fine. Beisdes, glancing at your health bar on-screen is a far better way to determine how much damage you're taking(if you didn't already have an idea..), and even tells you how much health you have left. Besides, if you're paying attention to the game, you'd notice that the two Warriors are converging on you about to spike you, or whatnot, and realise you're taking damage, or are going to be taking damage. It just doesn't need to jump out at you.

http://img212.imageshack.us/my.php?i...umbers4st0.jpg

Same as the above. I really do like the skill icons though, they're not a bad addition.

I mean, I'm sure after some time I could get used to the larger numbers, and the fact they actively shrink to a point, but considering how making them bigger(and making them shrink...) really adds nothing to the game, I just can't see why they were ever changed in the first place. Just give us an option to toggle it on/off like you did with the skill icon, those who absolutly love it(don't know anyone, but I'm sure there may be someone out there) can keep it, and those who absolutly hate it because it adds nothing to the game and is somewhat distracting can get rid of it and go back to the way things were.

I like the new numbers! I can't explain why, but I think they look pretty spiffy.

I agree, the heal/damage numbers are too large

I'll post a few screen shots when I get home.
I run at 1280x1024 windowed, large font interface because my eyes aren't what they used to be. And the healing and damage numbers are pretty huge, especially when you have SS or Healing seed going. I 'm afraid to play my minion necro, probably nothing but numbers on the screen =)

However I noticed that the XP numbers seem to still be the same size, and are what the old damage/healing numbers used to be. Maybe someone who's currently playing can post a comparison of the two.

Thumbs down Can't stand them

All these numbers bouncing around are just too distracting. It's not like you can retain all that information in most cases. These need a toggle.

I like it, before I was looking at the status bar to find out how hard I was being hit, but now I can see the numbers a lot easier. Maybe this is because I have a smaller monitor than most hard core gamers.

Looking at Alphites pics, that's from "unreadable unless you really look" to "easily readable at a glance." Much better imo and definatly not HUGE.

Look at the first guy's pics anyway, look at how HUGE his energy bar is. Wow can he even begin to complain about number size when his energy bar is 3x a tall as mine.

What resolution are you running at? And how long after the number first appeared did you take the screenshot? Because the new numbers actively shrink, meaning that you can only get an accurate comparison to the old numbers if you hit Print Screen just as the damage number starts being displayed.

The resolution for both pics is the same - 1280x800 (I use a laptop)
and the screenshots were taken about the same time which was as soon as the numbers appeared on the screen.

its to compensate for the improved monster AI. since you can no longer farm as many creatures, the numbers still take up the same amount of space as if you were farming those 15 smite crawlers! gee gee!
